Andrea Lauren Williams is from Riverside, California. Since she was young she has always been surrounded by music and art because of her family. She attends CSULB as an undergraduate and her major is ceramics. Her motivation that inspired her to enjoy ceramics was her husband. Being mother has inspired her very much also because having a daughter changed her life in a good way. She has a variety of pets like dogs, chickens , and pigs. She use to play the drums in a band that she was in. She is a Christian and even though you might think that her art might be focusing on religion it is not. Her art shows us her faith and motherhood. She is expressing her past and bring it to her new life.
All her art pieces are done by ceramic and cement. Her art pieces have a lot of textural feel to it. It is rough and in some places it is soft. You can tell by just looking at her artwork that in some place it is smooth and in others it has chunks of cement. She makes her work in 3D which it makes everything stand out more instead of just being flat. She does big scaled pieces with no bold colors but instead she uses more neutral colors that helps the art pieces look more vintage or even historic.
Her art work may come out as something religious but she is showing us her own sacrifice that she had to over come in life. She wants to represent the unnoticed qualities of a woman’s body in her own way by using her art pieces. She does use Christ and Mary in her pieces of work because she is a strong believer. She describes her art as “religious but with a twist”, she hopes people question religion, and what art actually is.
I really enjoyed her art pieces. At first I thought of Christ because I was looking at from far away but as I got closer I noticed what the image actually was. It is very beautiful and done incredibly well. She is an amazing artist with bright ideas in showing us her sacrifices that she has gave in her life time. Her art work was very cool and I hope I one day get to see more of her awesome art.
