Sean Joy Cabanig is from Los Angeles but she lives in Long Beach. She is an undergraduate student at CSULB. She is currently on her last semester here. When she first attended CSULB her major was creative writing but now she’s graduating from the BFA program of metal and jewelry. This is her first show she has ever done which is really special to her. On her free time she is mostly find her in the studio experimenting on different projects and also working outdoors with the metals she uses. In her art she is practicing her humor and emotion where she gets to experiment with a reflection of her life.

Cabanig’s art is made with metals. She explained the process of how she comes up with her art work. First the actual idea is put onto a sketch then a paper model to have an idea of scale or what you actually want. Then a copper model since it can me easier to work with or wax then starting the real thing. Her art is mostly jewelry accessories like rings and necklaces. She also has this beautiful made plates with nice paintings on them. The color is very unique and nice looking.

Her ideas for this art gallery can be particularly anything she wants it to be. Her art explores the environment,  any emotional being and can also be based on art history. Her ideas can come from random thoughts and really can be anything.  Whatever she is feeling at that time can be represented through her art. Her art can be a certain time in her life that she feels she wants to represent by making an art piece. She does have a specific idea for her art, her art explores what ever she desires it to be.

I found her art very awesome. My favorite art piece of her was her ring. I think it was very nicely made and it has a sort of elegance to it. I also enjoy the color of her art work because it plain but very nice to see. Seeing her it shows me that art isn’t just painting it can be anything you want it to be. Art can mean different things to everyone which is the best part of art. I really enjoyed Sean’s art gallery and her art display.
