This week’s artist was Nick Bamford. Nick is originally from Huntington Beach, California. This semester is his last and he will being graduating from the BFA Ceramics Program. Once he graduates he w will be taking a gap year to work more on his art work. But after that he wants to attend a grad school to further his knowledge in art. He is thinking in maybe attending UCLA but he isn’t sure yet. Nick has always enjoyed art since he was younger. He began with simple drawing and it improved to bigger art like his gallery. For this gallery his ideas were brought upon his own personal life and other ideas that he enjoys.
His art work is filled with different types of materials as shown in the pictures above. Most of the objects are like things that his has found and his own objects that are his. He has different shapes in his art work that makes it so unique. The object that stands out the most are the neon lights he incorporated into his art work. The neon lights makes you feel like you are a party which is cool that an artwork can help you think more. He really likes the neon lights that’s why he decide to put them in his art piece. His artwork has different medias like clay, plaster, and random found object.
His art work incorporates his personal life and different experiences in his life. His art work is of growth and decay. The art pieces are very meaningful to him because it explores into process and form. He told that art is everywhere and for his art work he is helping it come together . He uses sculptures and ceramics as a different form of figurative to show us his art. He likes the different type of dimension his art work of the original traditional art. His way of expressing his life and putting all this different pieces together shows us his life be brought to life in his art.
I think is art work is very unique. You don’t need to do allot to make art. His art is simple but he’s message is very important knowledge to know. He wants to express himself but his art being the only thing you can see when you walk inside his gallery. I think the neon light bring his art more to life and I think it makes it look really cool. So far I haven’t seen someone use this beautiful lights in their art work. Overall, I enjoyed his art pieces very much.
